I began in 2000 with birds that had weak to OK gold coloration.  Through the selection process I was able to concentrate the color while maintaining the Marans type and decent egg color (see picture below).  These birds are most widely refered to as golden cuckoo.  However, last year I had one male hatch whose wing patch shifted to a paler color along with becoming entirely gold barred and four pullets hatched whose feathering became very similar to black-tailed buff but with weak barring (all of my Marans from day one have been barred).  After some research I have located this variety in Europe where they are called Yellow Marans.  I'm not going to get into any peeing competitions with anyone over this naming so don't even waste your time or mine.  If you'd like started birds (2008 no eggs) let me know.
Notice the difference in the golden cuckoo rooster and yellow rooster!
